The CIDAI (Centre of Innovation for Data Tech and Artificial Intelligence), in collaboration with the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), is organizing this technical session to analyze and disseminate the results of the project “Impact Analysis and Demand Prediction for the Aerobús” (AIDA).

AIDA is a CIDAI impact project aimed at improving operational efficiency based on the demand for the Aerobús service—the transport link between Barcelona city center and El Prat Airport—through the use of innovative AI and data-driven solutions. The project includes an exploratory data analysis (EDA) phase, an evaluation of the performance of various prediction models, and the development of a mathematical model.

Furthermore, the session will provide local and international context by showcasing real-world use cases of AI application in the mobility sector. The event will feature participation from Eurecat, the entity leading the CIDAI project in collaboration with AMB Informació i Serveis, and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP).

AMB Informació i Serveis will present the strategy for deploying advanced data-driven solutions in both data analytics and artificial intelligence. Starting from the implementation of a comprehensive data platform for sustainable transport and mobility, they will showcase data management and governance, as well as how the potential for introducing AI-based tools—such as those presented today—is identified.

11.45h | Presentation of the AIDA Project: From Aerobús Demand Impact Analysis to future applications for the AMB bus network
The AIDA project is presented, focusing on demand prediction for the A1 and A2 lines of the Aerobús service. The project details the methodology followed, the main results of the Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), and the performance of the various prediction models used. Additionally, a mathematical model has been developed to optimize bus fleet management, aiming to improve the service’s operational efficiency based on forecasted demand.
