In this workshop we will explore the key guidelines of the recently passed Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) and their impact on the business environment. We will look at the implementation timelines and specific requirements for AI systems categorised by their level of risk.

We will discuss how companies can take an ethical and responsible approach to developing, implementing and using AI systems and underscore the importance of embedding these principles in a robust AI governance structure. We will also address key issues such as setting up a sound governance framework, risk management and the protection of fundamental rights.

We will additionally unpack the practical challenges businesses face in complying with these regulations along with the innovation opportunities emerging from enhancing public and market confidence through ethical and responsible management of AI use.

Taught by:

Leire Echebarria Massalleras, AI Strategy Tech Advisor, NTT DATA Leire has a double degree in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering from the University of Deusto plus a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence from Esade. Her interest in the intersection between technology and business has led her to explore advanced analytics and AI applied to business environments.

She is currently part of the AI Strategy team at NTT Data where she helps to roll out strategic projects on ethics, governance and the responsible implementation of AI.

Alicia de Manuel, Expert Analyst in AI Strategy, NTT DATA Alicia has a PhD in Philosophy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She also holds a degree in Fine Arts with a Master in Research in Art and Creation (UCM), a Master in Research in Art and Design (UAB) and a postdoc in Bias Detection in Triage and Geolocation Algorithms for COVID-19. Her education geared towards creativity and research has enabled her to take part in numerous innovation projects in technology, design and education with special emphasis in recent years on Artificial Intelligence ethics.

She is currently part of the AI Strategy team at NTT Data where she works on projects addressing AI ethics and governance.
