CIDAI, as responsible for the artificial intelligence node of the European project DIH4CAT, together with Eurecat and Tecnalia, participants in the European project AIREGIO, will present trends, applications and success stories of the use of data technologies and artificial intelligence in the industrial manufacturing process.

The session will be taught in two large blocks. The first will be oriented towards the contextual framework of the applications of these technologies and the second towards the explanation of a practical case.

Addressed to:

Aimed at technical and business profiles from the industrial sector who are close to the applications of these technologies.

Programa

  • Welcome Marco Orellana, CIDAI Technical Office Manager
  • Introduction AIRegio Roger Calaf i Ferrer, Technology Consultant & Lecturer at Eurecat
  • Towards the smart factory. What can AI do?
Fernando Boto, Senior Data Scientist, Industry and Mobility Unit at Tecnalia

    • What is AI?, demystification of strong/weak AI.
Main applications. Machine Learning, Deep learning, supervised / unsupervised learning.
    • 4th revolution. Uses in industry: Predictive and prescriptive maintenance, quality inspection, optimization for process control and planning
    • Challenges for AI adoption: automation and democratization. Embed domain knowledge.
  • DICAMI. Advanced digitization and calibration of measurement systems with microwave sensors.
Francisco Fernández, Data Scientist & Researcher at Eurecat

    • Generate a control system capable of memorizing the different electrical responses of the sensor depending on the materials that make up the food, and predict the system’s response based on the stored calibrations.

Masterclass given by Eurecat and TECNALIA

Taught by:

  • Roger Calaf i Ferré, Technology Consultant & Lecturer at Eurecat Doctor in geographical analysis using advanced technologies (UAB) and Master in Innovative Management (UB). Currently, and for the last 6 years, he has been working at Eurecat, as a technology consultant within the Ecosystems and Innovation Policies Team. During his first stage at Eurecat (2017-2021) he acted as a technology promoter within the Tourism Innovation department in the market research unit. He combines this work activity with university teaching at the School of Tourism and Hotel Management of the UAB.
  • Fernando Boto, Senior Data Scientist, Industry and Mobility Unit at Tecnalia Computer Engineer (2001) and Doctor in Computer Science (2006) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) with his thesis on Document Digitization and Optical Character Recognition. He has more than 20 years of experience in the development of R&D projects funded by the Basque Government, Spain and the European Commission. He has worked as a researcher at the UPV-EHU (2001-2005) and at Vicomtech (2005-2010). In July 2010 he started at Tecnalia where he focused his activity on the development of intelligent applications for the industrial sector using artificial intelligence and Machine Learning techniques. His research specialty focuses on Intelligent Process Control, Energy Efficiency and Resource Planning/Optimization. He has published several scientific articles, all of them in international conferences and journals. He combines his work at Tecnalia with teaching activities in collaboration with UPV-EHU and Deusto.
  • Francisco Fernández, Data Scientist & Researcher at Eurecat Researcher in the Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI) unit. Degree in Physics at the University of Barcelona. He studied the Master’s degree in Modeling for Science and Engineering at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with a thesis dedicated to predicting the risk of COVID patients using Bayesian Networks.
Recently he has worked on data analysis projects, temperature forecasting for air conditioning installations, and computer vision for the mining industry, using both classic Machine Learning tools and Deep Neural Networks.
