Computer Vision is the Artificial Intelligence (AI) of images and videos. Everything that is captured by a camera can be processed using a computer. Computer vision has historically played a key role in quality control processes in industry, but nowadays its impact is enormous and reaches almost all sectors with huge social and economic ramifications. Cameras in our computers, mobile phones and streets coupled with universal connections to the Internet and the development of powerful machine learning techniques have bolstered this technology, positioning it as a driving force in AI worldwide with a considerable number of start-ups and generating one of the most sought-after professional profiles. Computing and identifying people, driving assistance systems for our cars, image processing in medical analysis and automatic document processing are just some of the examples of the applications of Computer Vision.
In this Masterclass, we will explore Computer Vision from the standpoint of opportunities and trends in the business market, looking at the current state of the art with market volume figures, and identifying the key players in the Catalan and international ecosystem.
We will use tangible examples of business and public sector partnerships based on success stories which the Computer Vision Center has led in recent years. We will address the technology from a product-oriented perspective, providing pointers on the opportunities for systemic transformation that Computer Vision brings.
