This masterclass invites you on a journey through the history and evolution of the electric vehicle, exploring the different types of batteries that have powered its development. We will delve into the circular economy of lithium‑ion batteries, discovering how to give them a second life in order to reduce their environmental impact.

We will learn about the winners of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry whose research was key to the development of these technologies. In addition, we will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics are revolutionizing the value chain, from classifying and assessing the condition of batteries to implementing crucial safety measures to prevent accidents.

We will also analyse several related use cases.

Currently, I apply ML, autonomous robotics, and XAI to the classification and safety of lithium batteries from electric vehicles (EVs) intended for second‑life applications, and I collaborate in the national MEDINSPAIN project (2025–2028) to promote a circular economy.
