At the same time, recent years have witnessed significant progress in another technological field, <strong>quantum computing<\/strong>, a technology that promises to revolutionize the great computational challenges of our time.<\/p>\n<p>The fusion between AI and quantum computing has given rise to a new field of study: the <strong>quantum artificial intelligence.<\/strong> This discipline promises to profoundly transform the way we interact with the world and solve complex problems as it represents a completely different way of processing information.<\/p>\n<p>Quantum artificial intelligence combines the principles of quantum computing with AI machine learning algorithms. Unlike classical computing, which uses bits as basic units of information, <strong>Quantum computing uses qubits.<\/strong>. These qubits can exist simultaneously in multiple states thanks to the <strong>quantum superposition<\/strong>, exponentially increasing processing capacity and allowing much more complex calculations to be performed at incredible speed. Another differential characteristic lies in the phenomenon <strong>of quantum entanglement<\/strong>, a physical link that can occur between qubits, which has no classical analogue and which allows manipulating a multitude of qubits with a single operation.<\/p>\n<p>Them <strong>fields of application<\/strong> of quantum AI are vast:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Medicine and Bioinformatics<\/strong>: In the field of medicine, quantum AI can revolutionize the way biological data is analyzed and processed. The ability to perform simulations and models of molecules and biological interactions with unprecedented precision could accelerate the discovery of new drugs, optimize personalized treatments and improve early diagnosis of complex diseases such as cancer or neurodegenerative diseases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Logistics and Transport<\/strong>: Quantum AI has the potential to transform the logistics industry by optimizing transportation routes and managing supply chains. This could result in a significant reduction in costs and time, as well as improving the environmental sustainability of logistics operations, reducing carbon emissions through more efficient routes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Security and Cryptography<\/strong>: Quantum computing offers new ways of processing information that will make many of today&#8217;s cryptography systems obsolete. At the same time, it also provides the tools to develop new cryptographic methods practically intractable by conventional computers, offering a new level of security in data transmission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Climate Change and Environment<\/strong>: Analyzing large volumes of environmental data to predict climate change is another area where quantum AI can make a significant contribution. Its ability to model complex climate systems can help to more accurately predict the effects of climate change and potentially offer strategies to mitigate this impact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finance and Markets<\/strong>: In the financial sector, quantum AI can revolutionize risk analysis and investment management. Quantum models can analyze large amounts of historical data to identify trends, optimize investment portfolios, and anticipate market fluctuations with an accuracy and speed unattainable for current systems.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its great potential, quantum AI is still in the early stages of development. Them <strong>technical problems<\/strong> how <strong>qubit stability and quantum decoherence<\/strong> are significant barriers. In addition, ethical and security questions emerge: Who has access to this powerful technology? How do we guarantee privacy when data can be processed on such a scale?<\/p>\n<p>In Europe, and specifically in Catalonia, steps are being taken to not fall behind in this technological race. Public and private initiatives seek to promote research in quantum AI. Collaboration between universities, research centers and companies is key to advancing in this field, as well as government support in the form of funding and regulation. As an example, on December 19, a meeting took place within the framework of CIDAI on quantum computing and AI, which was attended by many of the key Catalan agents such as CaixaBank, CaixaBank Tech, Fujitsu, GMV, Microsoft, Multiverse, Qilimanjaro, Sanofi, Sener, Barcelona Super Computing Centre (BSC), the Computer Vision Centre (CVC), Eurecat, i2CAT Foundation, the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), University of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bPolytechnic University of Catalonia and the Generalitat of Catalonia. and where the future of quantum artificial intelligence was discussed. Some of the conclusions of the day were that the <strong>energy efficiency<\/strong> in the use of quantum computing is an essential aspect for its future positioning and that we are now in a position to tackle real problems through hybrid computing.<\/p>\n<p>Quantum artificial intelligence is a <strong>technological frontier full of promise<\/strong> and challenges. Their applications may be revolutionary, but the <strong>technical and ethical obstacles<\/strong> they require meticulous attention.
